Welcoming Sloane Earl and Felix Crawshaw

Plastic Wax is proud to announce two exciting new additions to the expanding international team. As Plastic Wax celebrates twenty years of cinematics, joining the team are Executive Producer Felix Crawshaw and Business Development Manager Sloane Earl.

“I’ve seen incredible advancement in the gaming sector in its pursuit of filmic visual effects and character photorealism in games,” says Crawshaw, who joined the team as Executive Producer in September. “So for me, it’s an exciting opportunity to be joining a company with an already impressive catalogue of triple A titles to its name.”

Crawshaw’s appointment at Plastic Wax comes at the height of an impressive seventeen year career in film and television, having worked as Visual Effects Producer on the likes of Captain America: The First Avenger, Prometheus, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and most recently Disney’s epic rescue at sea drama, The Finest Hours at MPC, Vancouver.

Bringing to the team an unparalleled wealth of international experience with large scale production management, Crawshaw is driven by an ambition to spearhead the growth of Plastic Wax, particularly in the VR sector. The studio has grown by 30% in the last year from VR and in-engine content alone.  “I was fortunate enough to have produced Australia’s most ambitious full-CG VR project, The Bombing of Darwin, commissioned by the State government to launch their new Tourist hub.  I was hooked!”

“Plastic Wax are leading innovators in this field having directed and developed in-engine CG and VR content for years.  I am looking forward to exciting times ahead in our pursuit of delivering high-end visual effects with well-crafted storytelling both in VR and the gaming cinematic space.” – Felix Crawshaw

Sloane Earl joins the team from the VR capital of the world, San Francisco. Currently the Women in Games International (WIGI) San Francisco Chapter Lead, Sloane carries a lifelong love of gaming with a background in fine arts and business development. Sloane comes to Plastic Wax from leading San Francisco art studio Concept Art House known for projects the likes of Hearthstone, World of Warcraft, Magic the Gathering and Clash of Clans.

“The incredible team at Plastic Wax are creating the kind of imagery that first ignited my passion for the fantasy worlds of games. Whether it’s enormous lifelike dragons or tiny LEGO characters, the attention to detail and inherent love of the stories they craft is inspiring to witness and a privilege to work alongside.’

Earl will be spearheading Plastic Wax’s international business development efforts, liaising with clients globally on existing and new ventures. “I’m thrilled to be part of the team during such an exciting time of growth and momentum for the studio, and to contribute to setting a whole new bar for cinematic art and interaction through the leading edge technologies at play at Plastic Wax.”
