Job: Lead Assets Artist

We are currently seeking a seasoned Lead Assets Artist (modeller/texturer) to work with us onsite in our waterfront studio in Rhodes, Sydney.

3-4 month contract. Start ASAP.


  • Work closely with the Director, CG Supervisor and Art Director
  • Lead the Asset Team to develop high-quality 3D assets (environment, props, characters)
  • Produce high-quality assets suitable for production both technically and artistically
  • Manage the team of onsite and remote artists, keeping them on track and motivated
  • Produce comprehensive briefs for both remote and onsite artists
  • Support the team with any technical problem solving
  • Manage feedback and technical challenges
  • Liaise with production on task assignment and scheduling of the team
  • Interpreting and communicating the director’s feedback and vision to the team
  • Provide feedback on crew
  • Work with the production team and management

Job requirements:

  • 10+ yrs working¬†on AAA+ video game cinematics and/or CG or VFX feature films and/or TV series work
  • Expert level of skill using Zbrush and 3DSMax is essential
  • Strong shading skills using Vray/3DSMax
  • Thorough knowledge of Mari, Mudbox, Marvelous Designer and/or Substance Painter and/or other 3D texturing software is essential
  • Knowledge of Speedtree, World Machine etc is desirable
  • Knowledge of Ornatrix
  • Proven team leader with excellent communication and motivational skills
  • Expert people management/leadership and organisational skills
  • Set discipline and quality standards by leading by example and by regularly providing feedback to your team.
  • Ability to communicate with other departments and direct any artistic and/or technical changes
  • Mentor less experienced team members
  • A strong understanding of real-world materials is essential and must be demonstrated in your portfolio/reel
  • Ability to evaluate time requirements and possess problem-solving skills
  • Positive, pro-active and excellent communication skills
  • Maintain a calm and professional demeanour in a deadline focused work environment
  • Must have a killer portfolio/reel with accomplished examples of modelling, texturing and shading
  • Must speak fluent English
  • Ideally, you already have the right to work in Australia, however, we will consider exceptionally skilled applicants who are non-residents


  • Experience with Unreal Engine and creating models for In-engine use, etc
  • A traditional arts background with emphasis on sculpting and/or photo-realistic work
